In 30 hours: Piano

The number of people that have messaged me asking about my mad piano skills shows me this post is long overdue.

When I started my “In 30 hours” project, I had no idea what the result would be. Well, it’s been just over 2 weeks since I started learning piano, and I still haven’t managed to rack up 30 hours. I’ll blame this on a spontaneous trip to Scotland, but also, I’ve been pretty busy and most importantly have struggled to sit down for more than an hour at a time. I don’t know where I’d have found the time to fit 60 hours of TV in over the past fortnight, and frankly, that doesn’t really bother me!

I realise now my initial visions were, as usual, pretty ambitious: whereas I had hoped to be displaying piano maestro-like skills, serenading everyone with some Ludovici Einadi tunes, that’s just not gonna happen – maybe that can be the ultimate aim? My friends will testify to my complete and total lack of musical ability, and my classic ‘how hard can it be?’ attitude was quickly answered: very.

So, check out the video below, hopefully you can actually work out which tune it is – if you can the week’s been a success! I know it’s not great piano playing and has a fair few mistakes (it’s pretty cringey uploading it aha!), but it’s been interesting doing something musical for a change, and actually seeing some, albeit minor, improvements!

  1. Great progress over a short period of time! Keep it up… nothing feels more gratifying than doing something music related

    1. Cheers! Doing something musical is completely new for me, but it was a really sweet experience!

Haha. That happens way too often to me too 😛

    1. Ambition is such a wonderful thing though, eh?

  3. Mmmm, very good Jo. This brings back memories of your Dad and his attempts to learn the piano. Although have to confess this was achieved by you much quicker.

    1. Thanks Tracy! I’m sure he’d have something to say about that though huh? 😉
